Dowa Rock Cave
6km east of Bandarawela, close to a stream by the road, is the compact Dowa Rock Cave temple. It is home to lovely Buddhist murals and beautiful standing Buddha statue, 4 meters in height, cut into the rock. Though smaller in size and lesser in grandeur, the Dowa Rock Cave temple, with its murals and sculpture, is similar in some aspects to the renowned Golden Dambulla Rock Temple.
